Cheap White Boards

I went to my dibels Next training which was kind of a yawn... But my really neat trainer had DIY white boards sitting on each of our desks! So, cheap interchangeable and easy to store.

Here's what you need:

1. Page protectors (the really shiny ones... They erase best)

2. Card Stock (printable so you can print whatever you want for lesson or stick whatever you want from the copier in the sheet protectors)

3. Felt Scraps (you can get these cheap from a craft store)

4. White board markers

Not only are these super cheap to make, reusable, and printable they also allow easy storage. Just put them in a 3-ring binder and label them!!!

Classroom Quilt for Open House

How I pieced my classroom quilt together!

Here's our classroom quilt. We did a lot of talking about friends and families this tied in well and really connected the class as they got to share!

Here's the separate piece of the quilt I cut regular computer paper into 9 X 9 in square had them tell me what they wanted to be when they grow up, what their favorite subject in school is, and then draw a picture of their family:

Then I cut out card stock and hole punch it so they could be disassembled and taken home!

Here's another shot of an individual quilt piece when the quilt has been put together.

Notice the ribbon used to tie them into a quilt.

Next year I'm going arrange the hands prints in a better pattern... I ran out of time and all the girls picked pink and I only have like 7 girls!

Thanks for looking!

From Hawaii to Primary Place

Well, adventures in Hawaii turned out to be an adventure... But not the road to get me into a primary classroom. I'm teaching 1st grade and loving it! Now I want to share awesome ideas with other teachers out there!

First Post....

Five things I've discovered about Hawaii

1. Poke... is amazing. The best way to describe is chopped up raw Ahi tuna... Which sounds disgusting... but oh so delicious!
2. Manapua's are Hawaii's answer to the Mainlands hot pocket
3. Finding your way around is pretty easy... It's either water or mountains. And eventually you end up where you started. (Some pluses to living on an Island)
4. People drive a lot slower but a lot nicer here... Which can be a frustrating blessing.
5. I never have to wear pants again... If I so choose!

I'll write more and post pictures! This is the first post...
